JoAnn Katzer Memorial Scholarship

The JoAnn Katzer Memorial Scholarship was established in 2020 in memory of JoAnn Katzer. JoAnn graduated from Lincoln High in 1950. She attended Webster City Junior College and went on to Buena Vista University to obtain her teaching degree. JoAnn taught elementary school in Webster City for 30 years, retiring from Webster City Community Schools in 1992. JoAnn's students became part of her family, remembering each of them with birthday cards, and Christmas cards for many years after they left her classroom.
Scholarship Amount: $200
Applicants Must:
- Be a current graduating Webster City High School Senior
- Plan to attend a college or university full-time in the fall
- Plan to major in education
- A minimum of one scholarship will be awarded
Deadline: April 15
The WCHS Common Scholarship Application will be used. In the personal letter to the committee, the applicant will include his/her reasons for choosing a career in education. This scholarship will be paid through the Webster City Business Office. One half of the award will be given in the fall, and one half will be given in the spring after verfication of attendance at college.
